Introduction

This document provides instructions for adding, editing, or deleting progressive columns within the Price List Editor.

Procedure

Progressive Columns Report

Because of the significant number of progressive lenses, we recommend that you print a progressive column report so you may compare the progressive type codes and columns on the list against those you may need to add or edit. The Progressive Columns report is available from the Optifacts menu 5-4-7. It prints a list of all the current columns. Once you know where you will place the new entry, you can proceed to add your new columns.

Add/Edit Progressive Columns

All progressive columns appear in the Progressive type of price list. These progressive columns override any prices in the progressive column of a Normal price list if the Progressive list gets assigned as an override list. The progressive columns add to any prices in the progressive columns of a Normal price list if the Progressive list gets assigned as an add-on list. If a Progressive list gets assigned as a base list, the progressive columns’ get priced are charged.

From the Optifacts main menu:

Select Option 3 – Editor Utilities and press Enter.

Select Option 4 - Pricing Database Editor and press Enter.

Select Option 7 – Progressive Columns and press Enter.

Select Option 1 - Add/Edit Progressive Columns and press Enter.

The Add/Edit Progressive Columns screen displays.

  • Enter the description to print on line 1.
  • Enter the description to print on line 2.

You may enter up to six characters for each line to help describe the progressive lens to price from the column. When editing a progressive type price list, the descriptive text from these fields will print along the top of the price list.

If you are adding a new entry, you will see the following message:

After entering the description lines, the database will be searched for an exact match.

To view all entries, enter asterisks (*) for both description prompts. If one or more matches get found, a prompt displays to edit the currently displayed entry. Responding “No“ skips to the next entry. Responding “Yes” to edit the current entry will place the cursor at the prompt for description on line 1, allowing you to edit the entry or press return to accept the entry as is. Adding a new entry will work in the same manner.

After editing, adding, or accepting the description lines, you will be prompted for the column number to display this progressive. The column number is the relative location or order to print this progressive lens in the progressive price list. If you enter a column number that another lens is already using, the program displays a notification. The base distribution of Optifacts as lenses loaded every fifth row (i.e., 5, 10, 15, 20, etc.). This allows the insertion of new lenses between existing rows.

After entering the column number the entry is to be displayed from, a prompt is displayed to verify the correctness of the current entry. Responding “No” will place your cursor back at the description line 1 prompt, and responding “Yes” will accept the entry and go on to edit the lens type code entry for the description.

You get prompted to enter a Commercial Brand Name and a lens type code. If there is no CBT name for the type code you are adding, leave this field blank. You may place more than one lens type in the same column. If editing and entries exist, you get notified and allowed to add new entries or edit the current entry. The type codes entered are the same lens type codes as entered through Order Entry, and the type code must exist before you can add it to a progressive column. An asterisk (*) placed in this type field will price all progressives from this column. The progressive column of a normal price list gets set up in this manner.

Are the Entries Correct (Y/N)?

  • Press “Y” if correct.
  • Press “N” to make changes.

Pressing Escape during an Add or Edit will abort the current process and start over from the prompt. Pressing Escape at the first prompt will return to the Pricing Editor Main Menu.

You may not price a lens type from more than one column. Optifacts will display a warning with an error message if you try to do this.

Delete Progressive Columns

From the Optifacts main menu:

Select Option 3 – Editor Utilities and press Enter.

Select Option 4 - Pricing Database Editor and press Enter.

Select Option 7 – Progressive Columns and press Enter.

Select Option 2 - Delete Progressive Columns and press Enter.

The Delete Progressive Columns screen displays.

Enter the lens description of the first and second lines for the progressive column to be deleted. Enter an asterisk (*) to match all entries. If an exact match gets found, it gets displayed along with the column number. A prompt will display to delete the current entry. If more than one match gets found and you respond “No” to delete the entry, Optifacts skips, and displays the next match and again prompts for deletion.

You will get prompted to confirm that this is the one to be deleted (Y/N)?

  • Press “Y” to delete.
  • Press “N” to abort the action.

If you respond “Y,” you will see the type code portion of the column entry.

You will get prompted to confirm that this is the one to be deleted (Y/N)?

  • Press “Y” to delete.
  • Press “N” to abort the action.

Pressing Escape during a deletion will abort the current process and start over from the prompt. Pressing Escape at the first prompt will return to the Pricing Editor Main Menu.

Once you delete the type code, you get prompted to delete the column.

If there is more than one type code assigned to the column, you must delete all of the type codes before the system allows deletion of the column.

  • Press “Y” to delete.
  • Press “N” to abort the action.

Pressing Escape during a deletion will abort the current process and start over from the prompt. Pressing Escape at the first prompt will return to the Pricing Editor Main Menu.
