Load Lens Cost

Some lens manufacturers can provide their clients with cost information of lenses in a comma delimited file. This import utility allows you to import these costs directly into your Rx-Universe system, eliminating the need to manually enter costs.

The file provided by the manufacturer must be a comma-delimited file, there are two different formats:

  •  Left OPC Number, Right OPC Number, Cost (each or pairs):

o    0205518186,0205518178,22.50

  • OPC Number,Cost (each or pairs):

o    0205518186,22.50

o    0205518178,22.50

There should be no quotation marks used around the OPC codes, and the costs should be in numeric format (for example, 22.50 is valid). The decimal point is not required for full dollar values but must be present if the price includes cents (partial dollars).

To import a Cost File, from the Main Menu:

  • Inventory

  • Load Lens Costs

  • A File Explorer window will open, select the file from your system. You will be prompted for the name of the file to import. This may include the name of the file and .CSV.

Valid filenames example might be:

o    “Testcost.csv” or “Xcelcosts.csv”.

Following entry of the filename, Rx-Universe will check to ensure that it can find the specified file. If not, you will receive a message to that effect and be given the opportunity to enter another filename. It will also check the format of the file to ensure it is in the correct format. Once again, if it is not, you will receive a message to that effect.

  • After specifying a valid filename, you will be asked the following question:

o    Do you wish to overwrite existing costs?

Click on “Yes” to replace any existing costs for items specified in the file.
Click on “No” to leave any existing costs alone.

o    After you have made your selection, you will be prompted to select “Pairs”, “Each” or “Cancel”, in this example I will select “Pairs”:

o    Then you will tell the system the location of the cost field in the file, in this example it’s field “3”:

Once, you have answered the prompts, the file will load.

For example:

File: Silo-Physio-Cost.csv

0205518186,0205518178,22.50
