Downloading Lenses From The Rx-Universe web server

  1. Go to the Supervisor Tab in Rx-Universe and then click on Lens Updates.
  2. A “Checking for Server” screen will come up and you will connect to our server in a few minutes.
  3. Once connected, you will see a screen similar to:

The top screen shows the lenses available for download and the bottom screen shows the lenses that have already been downloaded using this utility.

4. If you have an OPC code for the lenses you are interested in downloading, click on “Search by OPC” and type in the OPC code as shown below and press Search.

5. If the lens is available in our on-line database it will take you to that lens and you can click on “Download Selected Lenses” and lenses will load in your system.

6. If the OPC is not in our database, you will receive this response:

If you receive this message please email support@omics.com with that OPC code, vendor name, lens style, and material and we will contact the vendor and try and get the lens data.

7. Above is the preferred method for downloading lenses however if you do not have an OPC code for the desired lens, you can type in a description to find the lenses and download them in that manner. This function is case-sensitive and can be a little tricky so we suggest you play with it until you are comfortable.

8. It helps to remember that everything is CAPS except some materials that must be typed as:

Poly
Trivex
Trans
CR39

Most other materials are entered as numeric values like 1.67, 1.60, etc. Please see examples below.

9. Once you have typed in your description and found the lenses you want to download, highlight them and press “F2/Download Selected Lenses” and the lenses will load.

10. Next you will Escape back to the main menu

NOTE**After downloading the lenses, they must be turned on in the Lens Catalog so that they populate your inventory database. You can do this by going to the Inventory Tab and then Lens Catalog.

Note***If you are running Rx-Universe version 6.43.00 or later you have the option of having your lenses turn on automatically when you download. You can set that by going to the Setup Tab and then System Settings. Click on the Inventory Tab and you can set the “Automatically Turn on Lenses” by semi-finished or finished as shown below.
