Introduction

This document will cover attaching a trace to an existing Frame Inventory record. This process accomplishes the following tasks in a few easy steps: Adding a Frame Library record, attaching a trace to the Frame Library record, linking the Frame Inventory record to the Frame Library trace record.
Please note that this method will not preserve drill points measured or transferred by your tracer. If you wish to preserve drill points within a VCA tracing, please use the  “Add Trace to Frame Library” and the “Link a Trace from Frame Library to Frame Inventory” documents for details.

Procedure

From the Optifacts main menu:

Select Option 4 - Order Entry and press Enter.

The Tray & Acct. window displays.

Continue entering the order until you reach the frame info section.

  • The active cursor is in the Tray Number field. Enter the tray number that matches the tray number you have traced for the desired frame to and press enter.
  • Type the account number and press enter. You will not fully process or bill this job to the account, but we still recommend using a lab or test account for this purpose. If you do not know the account number, type the first few letters of the Account name in the Acct No. field, and a selection list will display.
  • The system automatically assigns the invoice number, and the cursor jumps to the patient name field.
  • Enter a patient’s name.
  • Choose a simple lens and RX, such as SV, and press Enter through the Rx window fields.
  • Enter enough information for the lens window to continue.
  • When the prompt for entering the Traced Frame Name appears, enter the letter “I” and press Enter

The Frame Inventory window will appear.

  • Input enough information to find the frame in inventory to which you want to attach this tracing.

  • After finding the frame, answer “N” to not supply this frame and press Enter.

You get asked if you would like to store the tracing.

  • Answer “C” to only store for thickness calculations.
  • Answer “E” to store the trace for edging.
  • Or answer “N” if you changed your mind and do not want to store this tracing.

If you answered “C” or “E,” you would identify the frame type associated with this tracing.

  • Answer with the correct option and press Enter.

After identifying the frame type and the tracing stored, a trace library record gets created from the matching Frame.

  • Press enter to continue, and then you can press the Escape key until the order entry program exits to the Main Menu.

If you have more tracings to attach to Frame Inventory, repeat the process.
