Introduction

The lens SKU assignment screen is an Informix form that allows you to enter and edit the Informix database directly.   If you’re not familiar with using Informix  Forms, please refer to Perform Menu - Maintenance Screens document to familiarize yourself with the commands associated with the Informix perform screens.

Procedure

From the Optifacts main menu:

Select Option 9 - Inventory and press Enter.

Select Option 1 – Editor Utilities and press Enter.

Select Option 3 – Lens SKU Assignment and press Enter.

The Lens Record table displays. The active table (ln_rec) is indicated by the [brackets].

The SKU assignment screen has three distinctive sections,  the Lens  Record (ln_rec table), the SKU table (sku table),  and the Inventory Record (invt_rec table).   To work with one of these tables, it must be active.  You select the active table with the Master and Detail options of the perform screen.  The upper right portion of the screen will show the active table within asterisks,  ln_rec table, as shown in the diagram below.  The brackets  [ ] will  shift  positions to  show you what fields you may work with on the main screen. Choosing Master will choose the previous table. Choosing Detail will choose the next table.

In the following diagram, you can see the brackets in the middle section and the table’s name on the upper right side just above the dashed line (sku table).

To search for a lens, Query on the Master table of In_rec,  search for the manufacturer,  style,  seg size (if any), material code, type code (if any), diameter,  and base curve of the lens.   Or, if you know the SKU that you are searching for, you can press the letter “D” when first opening the screen. The active table will then be the sku table, and you can type in the SKU code from the package and press Escape to perform the search.

When you find the lens in question, press the letter “D” to move into the detail table, sku. The screen may beep and say,  “No Rows  Found.”   If the system finds an entry, it gets displayed on the screen. It may happen if an SKU exists for color or add power, but not for the lens you are trying to find an SKU.  Press “N” to view the Next SKU in the table until you have viewed all the entries.

Press the “D” again, this time moving into the detail section, invt_rec.    You can make adjustments here to a few fields, but we cover the complete procedures for setting these up further in this document. You can press the letter  “A”  to add an entry, or you may edit the fields to your requirements.  Enter the item’s purchase cost, the bin location, quantity on hand, and specify if the item is stock or non-stock—press Escape to save this information.  Press the letter “M” once to move back to the SKU section and “M” again to return to the Master table.

If you need to search for another manufacturer,  base curve, material, style, type, or diameter, press the letter “M” until you make the In_rec table active.  Remember, the top right portion of this screen shows the active table.  Then repeat the above section.

Press the letter ‘E’ to exit this screen and return to the Inventory Editor Menu when you have finished.

Refer to the instructions below. Should you need to use these tables and need further assistance, please call Optifacts Support. We can work with you over the telephone, walking you through a few actual entries and making sure you understand how to work with these tables.

Lens Record Table

  • Press “Q” to Query a lens record.
  • Enter the applicable criteria in the field(s) provided that you will need to perform the search.
  • Press Escape to view the results.

In the following example, we queried mfr ES, style P material PC, and type VXC. We can see that there are 15 rows found based on the search criteria. Since we did not specify a diameter or base curve, we found all diameters and bases with the criteria we specified.

  • Press “D” for Detail once the lens information displays on the screen.

Inventory Record Table

The inventory table is indicated as active by the [brackets].

You can use this section of the screen to update or add the relevant inventory data for this SKU. First, however, we have procedures to update lenses as described later in this document.

  • Press “A” to add a new record or “E” to edit.
  • The fields available in the invt_rec are:
    • Stocked (Y/N)
