Post Display

The POST display is currently available as part of the Symbol LS2208 scanner interface. It will allow 2 x 20 characters of information to be displayed from Rx-Universe. When setting up the Symbol LS2208 device parameters, a new check box has been added to the “Device Specific Settings” block. The check box is “Using post display”. When this is checked, information will be displayed on the post display concerning the job that has just been scanned.

Connecting the POST display. The POST display interface is designed to use the same serial port as the Symbol LS2208 scanner, therefore, the communication settings must be the same for both the scanner and the POST display. Refer to the POST manufacturers instructions if you need to change the baud rate, parity, stop bits, etc.

The POST uses the return line from the serial port and will display the text provided. You will require a split serial cable (one that has 2 ends on the same side so that you can connect to the Symbol scanner and the other POST display)

The barcode that is scanned on the Symbol will be sent to the Rx-Universe device interface and processed. If the job is found, then the POST will display the scanned value and what job station it was moved to. If the scan was not successful, then the error will be displayed on the POST display. When the Symbol scanner is connected to a “Global” station, if you change the current “Inderect” station associated with the scanner, the POST will display the change to the new station. The POST display will also show “Operator” information if any “Job Stations” are setup as operators and they are scanned by the Symbol scanner. If the job station is set as an 'Operator Log-out” station, the logout will be displayed on the POST display.
