Introduction

This document provides instructions for integrating FCS.

Procedure

Approval

RTS coordinates with Lab Management for the installation of FCS.

Certification

RTS to ensure equipement is cerfied to process FCS. This certification process includes installing the appropriate software updates for the lab equipment.

Installation Date

Once approved and certified, RTS to coordinate with Lab Management on a go-live date.

Communication

RTS to communicate the FCS go-live dates. Communication is usually four weeks before FCS go-live.

Traditional labs require Demons to be bounced. RSS to coordinate with operations to stop and restart the Demons once all the configurations are complete.

Verification

RSS must verify that Optifacts has the following working directories;

/u/optifacts/from_rxcp

/u/optifacts/to_rxcp

/u/optifacts/from_scg

/u/optifacts/to_scg

Ensure that Optifacts has the following directories for machinery;

/u/optifacts/lohes3

/u/optifacts/lohes4

/u/optifacts/opt7e

/u/optifacts/essblu

/u/optifacts/opt7esh (shallow blade)

All tracers at the lab should be set to non-FCS three weeks before deployment. (OMA tracers only) Labs should always have non-FCS tracers for non-FCS work. Small labs should have an A/B Switch to change the tracers from FCS to non-FCS (Prescriptor Jobs).

Custom Configurations

RSS to get the IP for the following and then configure the following custom configurations.

You should query these entries and only add the missing configurations.

  • Edging Parameters

0) Normal Edging

1) 1/3 - 2/3 Back

2) 50% Back

3) Flush Front

4) Specify Position  (OMA)

Choice = [0 ]

Traditional labs require Demons to be bounced once the above configurations are added. (see step 4)

FCS Machinery Setup

Most of the machinery setup gets done by the RTS team. RSS is responsible for the Optifacts equipment matrix table (Optifacts Menu 3-6-17).

Restart the tracers in (Optifacts Menu 10-2) after updating the tracers or removing the non-FCS tracers from the character settings in (Optifacts Menu 3-6-6).

Edger Setup

For edgers, we must define the FCS file directory and “two eye send” (example changes below in red, directory name get determined by edger type, i.e., Optronic 7E (opt7e)

Post FCS Calculation Review Notes

Troubleshooting and Notes

RTS is responsible for changing the edgers settings for OMA initial level to Full. Once these settings are changed, you have to bounce the edger in (Optifacts Menu 10-2) by killing and restarting the port. The job will not pull up on the edger if this step is not complete.

If RTS enables a 6Es edger that uses the same blade as a 7Es, the job file will be in the opt7e directory.

Post FCS Calculation Review (FCS Enabled Laboratory)

ð   = most important

Printed on Work Ticket:

Resolution:

ð                         B / B <no code> =

Review - if the difference is > 0.75 on PLUS or > 1.25 on MINUS, it should change to % mode (may get 6900 warning but is ok). Otherwise, run as is

ð                               B / B 5900 =

Review - Outside of flex rules, and is severe. Should be changed if possible to % mode or change lens curve to a better fit

ð                               B / B 5932 =

Review - Frame curve difference between R/L > 1.00 diopter and influencing bevel position

ð                         A / A <no code> =

Review - Complete failure to calculate, determine what failed, or run non-FCS

F / F 5900 (Polaroid) =

Review - May also have CHK BASE on ticket, change Lens Curve if needed, or allow the frame to adjust

F / F 5902 (Groove) =

Review - Groove too close to the edge (< 0.5mm from either edge). Change to % mode (others can be ignored)

<any> / <any> 5930 =

Review - A size (HBOX) difference between R/L > 1.0 mm, can usually be ignored

<any> / <any> 5931 =

Review - B size (VBOX)  difference between R/L > 1.0 mm, and should be corrected or trace 1 eye only

<any> / <any> 3903 =

Review - Check for double convex tooling, and correct it if possible. Otherwise, run non-FCS

A / A =

Return/Redo - needs to be “Re-Launched”  if FCS, using additional steps or retrace frame if possible

1908 =

E-Tess error – trace on LT1000 (if no other tracer available, run non-FCS)

A / A 1907 =

Trace Error - Will need both sides of frame traced to calculate or FRAME TYPE wrong at Layout

ð               F / F 6900 (Polaroid) =

Ignore - Unless CHK BASE  is on the ticket or normal Polaroid review (for wrap types)

P / P 6900 =

Ignore – usually in % mode because of “nose pad collision” or “thin edge.”

B / B 6900 =

Ignore - Outside of flex rules, but not severe, usually OK to process

F / F 5932 =

Ignore - Following lens curve so difference in frame (FCRV) curve R/L is not an influence

5901 or 5910 or 5920 =

Ignore - Lens thickness < FCS minimum default, if surfaced too thin, results will be too

R =

Ignore - Rimless job and can be run anywhere (If not Rimless, it might mean the lite-up #19 was used)

S / P or P / S (Groove) <no code> =

Ignore - Regular % mode, where 1 eye is 50% other eye < 50%

S / S <no code> =

Ignore - Same a P / P only in 50% mode

ALL OTHER CODES =
