Introduction

This document provides an overview on setting up scanners. Scanners are relatively easy to setup. Refer to the document links on the page for each step.  Issue an Optifacts support ticket if your have any issues or need assistance.

Procedure

PC Scanner

One type of scanner can plug into the back of a PC. These are used by customer service, frame management, verification, mailroom, as well as other departments within the lab, wherever there is a PC to connect to.

Setup in Optifacts

Adding lines in the 7, 12, 2 menus. Refer to the Master & Sub-Master Station Setup documents for full instructions.

Direct Connection Scanner

The other uses a DB9 connector and connects directly to the Rocket or Digi Port. It is assigned a unique tray tracking ID. These are used to communicate with machines such as generators, edgers, or other types of lab equipment.

Symbol Bar Code Scanners

Job Track can have several processes running to monitor Symbol Bar Code Scanners. In order to enable Symbol Scanners, you will need the following entry. Refer to the Add Lab Equipment to Ports document for full instructions.

A process will need to be started for each scanner on each port similarly to the way you would configure each tracer on each port.
