Introduction

This document provides instructions for retrieving and loading lens data from Optifacts

Procedure

From the Optifacts main menu:

Type Select Option 3 - Editor Utilities and press enterEnter.

Type Select Option 3 - Lens Database Editor and press enterEnter.

Type Select Option 5 - Download Data from Optifacts and press enterEnter.

Select Option 2 - Retrieve Lens Data and Load and press

enter

Enter.

  • Enter the Manufacturer Code to retrieve and press
  • enter
  • Enter.
  • Do you want Semi-Finished or Finished lenses (S/F):
  • Type S
  • Press “S” for semi-finished and press
  • enter
  • Enter,
  • Or,
  • type F
  • press “F” for finished and press
  • enter
  • Enter.
  • Enter the style code (without seg size) to retrieve (* for all): and press enterEnter.
  • Enter the progressive or aspheric type code to retrieve (* for all): and press
  • enter
  • Enter.
  • Enter the material code to retrieve (* for all): and press
  • enter
  • Enter.
  • Enter the color code to retrieve (* for all): and press

Note: The

The style, type, material, and color prompts default to *

Wildcards can also be used

You can use wildcards with characters entered in the selections. The program supports ( ? ) question

mark

marks to match a single character and ( * ) asterisk to match one or more characters.

Encountering New Materials and Colors

Since the Easy-lite material code EL was included in the semi-finished download but not in your database, Optifacts will prompt if prompts you to confirm that the material should be get added to your database.

If it doesn’t exist, you can:

  • Add it using the Optifacts default material code.
  • Add it using a different material code.
  • Not add it at all.

If your database already contains material EL, the prompt to add it will not appear.Image Removed

If the database already contains the material you specified, you will be get prompted to:

  • Enter Y “Y” to substitute or N “N” to enter a different code.

Answering N “N” will allow you to enter a different material code. Y “Y” will substitute your entered code for the default when the SKUs are loaded. Optifacts will do further checking check while loading the lenses to match existing material codes in the event the if what you entered doesn't doesn’t match lenses already in the database.Image Removed

In the following example,

Once all discrepancies are taken care of, the program will insert the lenses and SKUs from the unload file.

Other Prompts

You may be get presented with other prompts such as:

Lenses with matching descriptions

but different

SKU's

If a lens is found in the database with a different SKU, you will be get prompted to make a decisiondecide.

  • Entering R R” will replace the current lens, deleting the existing SKU and description and inserting the new lens in its place.
  • Entering A Entering “A” will replace all lenses that have with matching descriptions and different SKUs (avoids avoid being prompted for each SKU).
  • Entering I Entering “I” causes the program to ignore this SKU from the load file, leaving the existing lens as is.
  • Entering G Entering “G” causes the program to ignore all SKUs from the load file that match descriptions of existing lenses (avoids being prompted for each SKU).

If other differences such as diameter size are found, you will be get prompted to make a decision.
