Procedure

PC Scanner

One type of scanner can plug into the back of a PC. These scanners are used by customer service, frame management, verification, mailroom, and other departments within the lab, wherever there is a PC to connect it.

Setup in Optifacts

Add lines in the 7, 12, 2 menus. Refer to the Master & Sub-Master Station Setup documents for complete instructions.

Direct Connection Scanner

Another type of scanner uses a DB9 connector and connects directly to the Rocket or Digi Port. It is assigned a unique tray tracking ID. Use these scanners to communicate with machines such as generators, edgers, or other types of lab equipment.

Symbol Bar Code Scanners

Job Track can have several processes running to monitor Symbol Bar Code Scanners. To enable Symbol Scanners, you will need the following entry. Refer to the Add Lab Equipment to Ports document for complete instructions.

A process needs to start for each port scanner, similar to how you would configure each tracer on each port.
