Introduction

This document provides instructions for enabling the Future Messages feature. This allows customer service to define a message to appear at a future tray track station along with forcing it to become a Stop Job at that point.

Procedure

Add Custom Configurations

From the Optifacts main menu:

Type 3 - Editor Utilities and press enter.

Type 6 – Configuration Editor and press enter.

Type 6 – Edit Custom Configuration and press enter.

  • Press Q to Query.
  • Ensure that the table below exists.

If the table does not exist:

  • Type A to add a new record.
  • Enter all the information as per the example (s) below.
  • Press Escape to save the data.

Note: Only enable the following custom configuration if you do not want to allow station messages on the site.(Typically used on a multi- instance with no actual track station activity).

Note: Only enable the following custom configuration if you do not want interface files to be moved aside. This allows the tray to continue to be processed by interfaces, but the job will still be blocked from mailing, verifying or assigning to stations other than interface stations.

Add Tray Track Station

Add a tray track station called “CONTINUE JOB”.  This can be any station number and type, but it must be called “CONTINUE JOB”.  This is used for scanning through to clear the STOP JOB state of a station message.

Type 12 – Tray Track Configuration and press enter.

Type 2 – Sub-master Station Number Setup and press enter.

Customer Service

Add a Future Station Message

Type 7 – Tray Track and press enter.

Type 1 – Quick Lookup and press enter.

  • Select a tray in Quick Lookup that you’d like to add a Future Station Message to and enter the ‘F’ key.

    • To add a station message press 'A'

Note: If the custom configuration of NO STATION MESSAGES is enabled, you will receive the below warning and will not be able to proceed.

The Add Future Station Message for Tray window displays.

  • Type in the station number where you want the message to appear.

The station name will appear below the prompt.  Please note that the message will only appear if you use the Station Assignment screen for that station number – it will not work for order entry, interface, mailout, or verify stations that do not use the Station Assignment screen.

  • Type ‘Y’ if you’d like this to be treated like a STOP JOB.

When the message appears at the required station, we will also call the stop job script which will move aside all interface files and not allow the tray to be assigned to any other station.  The message will continue to appear when scanned into any other station through the Station Assignment program until the tray is cleared.  The tray will have to be scanned into the CONTINUE JOB station in order to move the interface files back in place and to allow continued production for the job.

  • Type ‘N’ if you’d like this message to only appear when the tray is scanned through the required station.
  • Then, type in the message you would like to appear.

  • Press enter past the last message field to save the data.If you press escape the message will not be saved.
  • Press any key to exit.
