Introduction

This document will cover attaching a trace to an existing Frame Inventory record. This process accomplishes the following tasks in a few easy steps: Adding a Frame Library record, attaching a trace to the Frame Library record, linking the Frame Inventory record to the Frame Library trace record.
Please note that this method will not preserve drill points measured or transferred by your tracer. If you wish to preserve drill points within a VCA tracing, please use the “Frame Inventory – Add Tracing to Library” and the “Frame Inventory – Link a Trace from Library to Inventory” SOP documents.

Procedure

From the Optifacts main menu:

Type 4 - Order Entry and press enter.

The Tray & Acct. window displays.

  • Proceed to enter an order until you reach the frame info section.
    • The active cursor is in the Tray Number field. Type the tray number that matches the tray number you have trace the desired frame to and press enter.
    • Type the account number and press enter. You will not fully process or bill this job to the account, but we still recommend using a lab or test account for this purpose. If the account number is not known, type the first few letters of the Account name in the Acct No. field and a selection list will display.
    • The invoice number is automatically assigned by the system and the curser jumps to the patient name field.
    • Type a patient name and press enter.
    • Choose a simple lens and Rx, example of SV and just pressing enter through the Rx window fields.
    • Enter enough information for the lens window to continue.
  • When the prompt for entering the Traced Frame Name appears, enter the letter I and press Enter

The Frame Inventory window will appear.

  • Input enough information to find the frame in inventory that you want to attach this tracing to.

  • After the frame is found, answer N so that you do not supply this frame and press enter.
  • You are asked if you would like to store the tracing.
    • Answer C to only store for thickness calculations.
    • Answer E to store the full trace for edging.
    • Or answer N if you changed your mind and do not want to store this tracing.

If you answered C or E, you are then asked to identify the frame type associated with this tracing.

  • Answer with the correct option and press enter.

After identifying the frame type, the tracing is stored. A trace library record is created from the matching Frame.

Press enter to continue, and then you can press the Escape key until the order entry program exits to the Main Menu. If you have more tracings to attach to Frame Inventory, repeat the process.
