Search for a Lens by Description or SKU

The lens SKU assignment screen  is an lnformix form  that allows you to do direct entry and editing of the lnformix database.   If you're  not familiar with  using lnformix  Forms, please refer  to Perform Menu - Maintenance Screens document to familiarize  yourself  with  the commands  associated with the lnformix perform screens.

From the Optifacts main menu:

Type 9 - Inventory and press enter.

Type 1 – Editor Utilities and press enter.

Type 3 – Lens SKU Assignment and press enter.

The Lens Record table displays. The active table (ln_rec) will be indicated by the [brackets].

The SKU assignment screen  is broken into three distinctive  sections,  the Lens  Record (ln_rec table), the SKU table (sku table),  and the Inventory Record (invt_rec table).   In order to work with one of these tables, it must be active.  You select the active table with the Master and/or Detail options of the perform screen.  The upper right portion of the screen will show the active  table within  asterisks,  ln_rec table as shown in the diagram below.  On the  main screen,  the  brackets  [ ] will  shift  positions to  show you what fields you may work with. Choosing Master will choose the previous table, choosing Detail will choose the next table.

In the following diagram you can see the brackets in the middle section and the name of the table on the upper right side just above the dashed line.. sku table.

To search for a lens, simply Query on the Master table of In_rec,  search for the manufacturer,  style,  seg size (if any), material code, type code (if any), diameter,  and base curve of the lens.   Or, if you know the SKU that you are searching for, you can simply press the letter 'D' when first opening the screen. The active table will then be the sku table and you can type in the SKU code from  the package, and press Escape to perform the search.

When you find the lens in question, press the letter 'D' to move into the detail table, sku. The  screen  may beep and say  'No Rows  Found'.   If  an  entry  is found, it will be displayed on the screen. This may happen if a SKU exists for a color or add power, but not for the lens you are trying to a SKU for.  Press 'N' to view the Next SKU in the table, until you have viewed all the entries.

Press the 'D' again, this time moving into the  detail section, invt_rec.    You can make adjustments here to a few fields but we cover the full procedures for setting these up further in this document. You can press  the  letter  'A'  to  add  an  entry or  you  may edit  the  fields to  your requirements.  Enter the purchase cost of the item, the bin location, quantity on hand, and specify if the item is stocked or not.  Press Escape to save this information.  Press the letter 'M' once to move back to the SKU section, and M again to return to the Master table.

If you need to  search for another manufacturer,  base curve, material, style, type, or diameter, press the letter 'M' until you make the In_rec table active.  Remember, the top right portion of this screen will show the active  table.  Then simply repeat the above section.

When you have finished, press the letter 'E' to exit this screen and return to the Inventory Editor Menu.

Refer to the instructions below. Should you need to use these tables and need further assistance, please call Optifacts Support. We can work with you over the telephone, walking you through a few  actual entries, and making sure you understand how to work with these tables.
