Backup Recommendations

We recommend that all of the RX-Universe clients have proper backup and recovery procedures in place for their RX-Universe system and data files as part of a disaster recovery plan (DRP).  The Client is responsible for providing adequate backups to ensure the recovery of their RX-Universe system and RX-Universe data files in the event of a system failure, data lost and/or data corruption.

The RX-Universe client needs to recognizes the importance of these processes and we highly recommend that they consult with their current IT provider to help them organize and plan a proper disaster recovery plan (DRP) based on the below examples of a suggested preferred best practices:

  1. A daily backup procedure
  2. An off-site backup procedure
  3. A minimum of 14 days backup retention.
  4. A daily off-site rotation
  5. A routine monitoring and testing of backup systems

Back Up instructions

All the data in a typical installation is centrally located on the server running RX-Universe (The PC that has the RX-U USB Dongles connected). In the examples bellow we will assume the the name of the server is "server" and the installation is install

We recommend backing up the default installation folder. In the example below we will use: "C:\RxUniverse" (please note that if you selected to install RX-Universe in a different directory the path would be different)

Backing up the entire content of this "C:\RxUniverse" folder will make the restoration simplify the restoration process.

Restoration instruction

If you are restoring to a new Server or a PC that doesnt have the RX-Universe installed on it you will need to follow the instructions on how to "Install Rx-Universe" ← Click here

Once you have the installation completed you need to have a copy of the Restored Data, please note that this action of extracting the "RxUniverse" folder of the data should be performed by either the client or their current IT provider.
