Blank Selection Substitutions is a means by which a lab can indicate that blanks of a different lens style, material, pretreatment, tint, manufacturer, customer and/or addons should be selected for a job.

Blank Selection Substitutions can be found on the Setup menu under Lens Configuration.

The blank selection process that occurs in Order Entry will check this new database to see if an entry exists for the specific item being ordered. If an entry exists, the blank selection substitutions will be used instead of the existing alias file. If an entry does not exist, the alias file will be used.

The Blank Selection Substitutions screen allows you to easily see the Primary Selections and their Secondary Selections. Simply click on a row in the Primary Selection and all rows pertaining to it will be shown in the Secondary Selection.

You must enter a least one field in the Primary Selection. You can have up to 20 different secondary selections.

Lens Style - this field must be set to either a valid lens style, blank indicating all lens styles or it can be a code that does not exist, in that case a “fake” lens style. This “fake” lens style can be entered on the lens style database for multiple digital designs.

Material - this field must be set to either a valid material or blank, indicating all materials

Pre-Treatment - this field must be set to either a valid pre-treatment, blank, indicating untreated, or “ZZZ” indicating all pre-treatments

Tint - this field must be set to either a valid tint, blank, indicating clear or “ZZZ” indicating all tints

Manufacturer - this field must be set to either a valid manufacturer or blank, indicating all manufacturers

Customer - this field must be set to either a valid customer or blank, indicating all customers

Addon1, Addon2 and Addon3 - these fields must be set to valid addons or left blank *NOTE - when the entry is saved, the addons will be automatically re-arranged to be in alphabetical order for each row. This makes it easier for searching if multiple addons are specified.

Type - this field must be set to “F”inished, “S”emi-finished, “B”oth or left blank

Extend - If checked, this causes the substitution items to be grouped together at the end of the blank selection list.  If not selected, then the blanks that meet the substitution description are grouped in the midst of any items matching the specified primary selection.

Thick - this field must be set to either a valid thickness code or blank

It is very easy to move an entry if priorities change or to remove an entry. Simply click on the Select Row check box to the right of the row that you want to move, clear or delete. You will see the row highlighted by a red frame. Then you can select what you want to do. Options are to the right of the Select Row column.

Move Row to Top - moves the highlighted entry to the top of the Secondary Selection (row 1). All rows before the highlighted entry will move down by 1 row.

Raise Row - moves the highlighted entry up 1 row. The row above the highlighted entry will move down 1 row (the 2 rows will be switching positions).

Lower Row - moves the highlighted entry down 1 row. If there is a row under the highlighted entry, it will move up 1 row (the 2 rows will be switching positions).

Move Row to Bottom - moves the highlighted entry to the first blank row

Clear Row - clears all fields in the highlighted entry

Delete Row - removes the highlighted entry row. If there are rows under the highlighted entry, they will move up 1 row.

*NOTE - if there are blank rows between entries, they will be removed when the entry is saved.
