OMICS Software Inc. assumes no responsibility nor will it provide support, configuration & maintenance on the proposed infrastructure below. The information given below is only intended as general guidance on "how to" install and configured these solutions.

With RX-Universe it is possible to have a Thin Client session connecting from the outside via the Internet. It does require a few configurations that may require the local IT support to help with this.

Some client may require VPN (Virtual Private Network) Tunnel to meet their current security compliances, if so they will need to consult with their current IT provider for the best VPN solutions.

If VPN is not necessary we can get a remote thin client configured to access via Internet Protocol using specific port communication. (Note: This will also still require the end client to consult with their current IT provider to setup this.)

  1. A Public Static IP Address or alternatively a Dynamic DNS Service that automatically updates to the Public IP (ie:WWW.DYNDNS.ORG)
  2. A Static IP Address on the RX-Universe Server
  3. Configure the Firewall/Router to allow inbound and outboubd traffic along with port forwarding port# 5640 to the IP of the RX-Universe Server
  4. Also open Incoming & Outgoing traffic on Firewall or the RX-Universe Server

In the example below we are assuming that the Public IP provided by the ISP is "142.166.201.203" and that the RX-Universe Server is setup on a static IP of "192.168.1.50"

Installing using VPN

  1. Client should have a functioning VPN appliance along with the VPN Client connection created on his remote pc. The VPN connection should be tested before attemptimg the next steps.
  2. Install RX-Universe Thin Client
  3. Change the IP address in the Thin Client to the RX-Universe Server

Installing using Internet Protocol

Install and configure the RX-Universe Thin Client on the remote PC

Configured the properties of the RX-U Thin client to connect to the PUBLIC IP or Dynamic DNS Name. (do not change the port #)
