For VCA devices, some tracers do not send DBL with the trace.  If an order uses a trace that has DBL=0, then the DBL on the order will be sent to the device (version 6.48.00).

When a specific edge thickness is requested on a job, that thickness will be used for MINEDG even if the minimum edge would be thicker because of safety (version 6.48.00).

Digital Surfacing

When entering a digital job, the "Filter lenses by availability" now causes the materials, etc., to be filtered based on the VCA label table (for designs where the LNAM is determined from the VCA label table), or from the inventory availability for the alias lens style (version 6.48.00).

...

When a digital job has an error (or is otherwise not manufacturable), this is indicated on the customer service screen with a "#" characters, as follows:

In version 6.45, Rx-Universe was changed to automatically set LDTYPE based on the file extension of the surface point file.  This caused problems for older equipment, and for the old non-VCA Epson-Seiko digital calculator, so this is now an optional setting.  A new checkbox has been added to the Device tab of the Digital Type screen:

Default LDTYPE if not explicitly set - if the LDTYPE is not otherwise explicitly set (by the previous checkbox, or by a VCA over-ride), checking this box will cause Rx-Universe to automatically set LDTYPE based on, first, the file extension of the surface point file.  If the surface point file has an extension of .SDF, then LDTYPE=SDF.  If the file extension is HMF, then LDTYPE=STF; otherwise, the LDTYPE value will be the same as the file extension. If this box is NOT checked, and LDTYPE is not otherwise explicitly set, then LDTYPE=?, and the device will attempt to determine the format of the file (version 6.48.00).

Some digital vendors allow NPD to be specified for progressive digital designs.  A new checkbox has been added to the lens style setup, Digital tab, to allow a design to prompt for NPD in Order Entry; this NPD will be sent to the digital calculator.  Labs should ensure that the design in question supports variable NPD before enabling the option (version 6.48.00).

A new parameter has been added to the VCA Label Table entries - different values for a VCA label can now be set for an entry depending on whether the order requires an applied tint or not (similar to how different codes can exist for orders with and without A/R). This allows, among other possibilities, the use of different LNAM codes for Essilor Digital designs and labs that make use of SBF (Smart Blue Filter) blanks.  Because these lenses cannot be tinted, different LNAM codes need to be sent to Essilor depending on whether the order has a tint to be applied or not. For complete details, please see SBF Blanks (version 6.48.00).

A change was made to the handling of LMS files to use the filename of the file when the LMS file is returned without a JOB= line (this happens with Hoya digital for some error messages only) (version 6.48.00).

Order Entry

When the tray number is changed on the Order Entry screen, calcs are required so that the OMGEN record gets updated (version 6.47.02).

...

When sending orders electronically to Rx-Universe, the sending party can specify the OPC of the blanks that are to be used.  If these blanks cannot be found, or cannot be used (because of thickness, curveout, etc), or if the blanks different in design from the design that was requested (requesting a SV design and specifying OPCs for Flat Top blanks, for example), the order will be saved unvalid for manual intervention. When the OPCs are specified in the remote file, blank selection will NOT be attempted by Rx-Universe (version 6.48.00).

Rx-Universe now support user-specified center thickness for all jobs.  For complete details, please see Thickness On An Order (version 6.48.00).

The "Filter lenses by availability" now works for digital designs as well as toric designs.  If the digital designs are set up in a VCA label table (for example, Essilor), then the availability is limited to the entries from the associated VCA label table.  If the digital designs are set up to use alias entries, the materials available are filtered based on the materials available for the alias lens style.  No filtering is done by colour or pretreatment in this case (version 6.48.00).
