Introduction

Though not the first choice, restoring data from backups created at the lab can be critical in regaining full function to a lab quickly.  Following these instructions should help you run through the process.

Procedure

1. Open a terminal connection to the lab you want to work with.

2. Type su – root. Enter the root password to gain root access to the server.

3. Type “TERM=vt100”.

4. Type “export TERM."

5. Type “edgemenu."

6. At the main screen, choose Restore and Expert Restore.

7. Using the arrow keys, select the session, or backup date, that you wish to restore from. It is very possible to have more than one backup session on a single media.  Select Next.

8. On the next screen, there are two options. Normally we would use the first, listing the files or directories we would wish to restore.  In this case, /u/optifacts/optifacts.dbs.  Then choose OK.

9. Make sure that, on the following screen, you set the options as shown below.  If you are not sure you want to overwrite the information, set the Restore To: option to /tmp.  Choose Execute Restore

Note

Although the screenshot below indicates Destructive “Y,” we recommend using “N."

10. Once this has processed, it will give you a Summary Screen, with the only option "Done" at the bottom. If you do not get this screen, contact Hardware Support for further assistance.

11. Once you have chosen "Done", the system returns you to the main menu. Choose File and Exit to end your BackupEdge session.
