Each has the following items available for lab definitions. Additional processing set up is located in the Account Material Configuration file. Note: There may be many occurrences of Account Material Configuration setups, one for each defined material. |
Tool Rnd | Enter what you want tools to be round to (ex: 0.125 or 8) Rounding increments for laps in use for the material. Typical answers are 0.1000 or 0.1250 Verify the rounding increments used by the lab by inspection or review with the managers. Expect to see ending values printed on the laps like #25, #12, or #10. The ending digits are the key to determining the rounding. If laps are ending in #25 or #12, the rounding is in 1/8th, while those ending in #10 are in 1/10ths. 1/8th diopter in decimal format equals .125 increments, and 1/10th diopter in decimal is .100 increments. There is only one setting per material. Any lab running mixed sets, both in 1/8th and 1/10th, need to choose one rounding method. |
Tool DP | Enter the number of digits to print after the decimal place for tools The number of positions to the RIGHT of the decimal point when printing the tool (lap) and curve data on the work ticket. |
Prism Index | Enter the index that prism rings/blocker are at, or 0.0 to match material Prism index for calculations. By default, this should equal the material index. Note: Watch for differences if similar settings are available in the generator. The system and generator files should match. Prism index may require the entry of an actual index. The two primary cases are: If the lab uses AutoFlow blockers and if the lab needs old-style prism rings. |
Tool Index | Enter the index that tools are cut for (0.0 to match the normal 1.530) The index in which the laps are cut and index of the gauges in use. The default is 1.530. Note: If the field has 0.0000, the default of 1.530 is in use. |
Surface Rm | Enter the amount of surface removal from fining and polishing The term “Surface Rm” means Surface Removal. This is the amount of material loss during the fining and polishing process. |
360 Prism | Enter “Y” to print markup prism axis 0-360 degree, N to print -180 to +180 Set to “N” for typical 0-180 angles, and to “Y” for 0-360 angles. Applies to prism angles only. For use with LOH blockers that block prism and use the 0 to 360-degree scales. This is also the setting for the prism angle printed on the work ticket and the angle sent to the generator to cut prism. |
Center Blk | Enter “Y” to default to center blocking most lenses, “N” to MRP block Set to “Y” for the geometric layout of lenses in Surfacing. If “N,” then MRP Blocking is active by default. Note: Some lenses such as Aspheric or Progressive may have unique blocking settings from the Special Lens Type file. Those settings override or use this setting (Center Blk) to determine the layout. |
Prompt Cntr | Enter “Y” to get prompted to enter the blank center thickness If set to “Y,” the system prompts the entry operator for the center thickness of the lens blank. The prompt for center thickness only displays on a sag entry lens. |
Prt Res P | Enter Y to print resolved prism on wk ticket when Rx prism not resolved If “Y,” prints the resultant prism (from prescribed prism data) and the resulting prism angle. |
The following groups of Psm Lmt #, Psm Rnd #, and Psm DP # are for use with prism blockers and prism rings. It defines the ranges and rounding increments for the ring sets. If the prism is always ground in the generator, the limit in Psm Lmt 1 should be set to 99.00, the rounding to 0.01, and the decimal point (DP) to 2. | |
Psm Lmt 1 | Enter upper prism limit 1. Prism <= limit is rounded/printed per below Maximum prism for the first set of rings. If the lab does not block prism, nor uses prism rings, then the value for Psm Lmt 1 should be set to 99.0. The values in lmt 2-5 won’t be active regardless of their setting when Psm Lmt 1 equals 99.0. The generator needs to cut the prism in these instances. If the lab blocks or uses ring sets, then set the ranges 1-5 in the increments of the prism blocks or prism rings at the lab. |
Psm Rnd 1 | Enter what you want prism < above the limit to round to (ex: 0.125) Rounding increments for prism rings or prism blocker rings. Blocked or ring prism should be set to the availability of the prism set. |
Psm DP 1 | Enter the number of digits to print after the decimal place for above prism |
Psm Lmt 2 | Enter upper prism limit 2. Prism <= limit is rounded/printed per below Maximum prism for the second set of rings. |
Psm Rnd 2 | Enter upper prism limit 2. Prism <= limit is rounded/printed per below Maximum prism for the second set of rings. |
Psm DP 2 | Enter the number of digits to print after the decimal place for above prism |
Psm Lmt 3 | Enter upper prism limit 3. Prism <= limit is rounded/printed per below Maximum prism for the third set of rings. |
Psm Rnd 3 | Enter what you want prism < above limit to round to (ex: 0.125) Rounding value for the third ring set. |
Psm DP 3 | Enter the number of digits to print after the decimal place for above prism |
Psm Lmt 4 | Enter upper prism limit 4. Prism <= limit is rounded/printed per below Maximum prism for the fourth set of rings. |
Psm Rnd 4 | Enter what you want prism < above limit to round to (ex: 0.125) Rounding value for the fourth ring set. |
Psm DP 4 | Enter the number of digits to print after the decimal place for above prism |
Psm Lmt 5 | Enter upper prism limit 5. Prism <= limit is rounded/printed per below Maximum prism for the fifth set of rings. |
Psm Rnd 5 | Enter what you want prism < above limit to round to (ex: 0.125) Rounding value for the fifth ring set |
Psm DP 5 | Enter the number of digits to print after the decimal place for above prism |
Prism Need | Enter “Y” Prism Needs to print on the work ticket |
Blk Ring P | To print prism line for B)locked, R)ings, A)ll, N)one on the work ticket For printing of prism line on work ticket. Set to “B” for blocked prism, “R” for ring set prism, “A” for both types, and “N” for neither type. If the generator cuts the prism, set this to “N” Set according to the lab needs based on answers to PsmLmt 1-5. Depending on this setting, this may print multiple lines of the work ticket with reference to prism requirements. |
Flat Lmt | Enter the flattest curve the generator can cut (flatter is roughed in) Flattest curve the generator can produce. If the curve falls below the range, the system adds 0.3mm to allow roughing in of the curve. The additional thickness is static at 0.3mm’s regardless of the difference. Setting the wrong value could induce thickness problems on high plus work. |
Steep Lmt | Enter the steepest curve the generator can cut (steeper is roughed in) Steepest curve the generator can produce. If the curve exceeds the range, the system adds thickness based on the difference between the wanted curve and the Steep Limit setting. The thickness is increased as the difference increases. Setting the wrong value, induces thickness errors. |
Flex Comp | Enter material flex comp value (minus to steepen, plus to flatten) Factoring amount to adjust rear surface curves due to flex (warp/stress) on the front curve during blocking. Optifacts assumes that the flex is greater as minus power increases, not on the center thickness value generated. Alloy blocking causes more flex than wax and usually requires a larger value than wax blocking. Flex Comp adds the field value to the rear curve calculation before rounding. A negative value moves the rear curve towards more minus, while a positive moves the curve flatter. Flex Comp on minus jobs gets calculated by multiplying the Spherical Equivalent against the Flex Comp value. The calculated value adjusts the rear curve. Used in conjunction with Min Flx C. If the calculated value is less than Min Flx C, the Min Flx C is applied. On plus jobs, only the Min Flx C value gets used. Use extreme caution with this field. |
Min Flx C | Enter minimum flex comp amount (minus to steepen, plus to flatten) Used in conjunction with Flex Comp. This is the minimum amount of compensation applied until the power range, compensated, is larger than this minimum amount. This value always gets used if the job is plus powered. |
Pad Thick | Enter pad thickness in mm, -mm, or 0.0 if tools are cut compensated for pad Amount in millimeters of the thickness of fining/polishing pads. A value of zero (0.000) indicates that laps are pre-compensated during manufacture. Any other value influences the rear curve rounding for base and cross curves. Usually, this is the thickness of the 1-step fining pad used in Surfacing. If the lab uses a 2-step fining process (2 pads), then the value should equal the thickness of both pads combined. |
Prt Uncomp | Enter “Y” to print exact uncompensated curves also if compensating for pad above If “Y” and Pad Thick (above) are set to compensate the curves, this prints the unrounded compensated curves on the work ticket. |
Tool Sag | Enter “Y” to print tool sags, using the next two entries Only set to “Y” if the lab wants the sag value of the true front curve (lens) printed on the work ticket. |
Ball Rad | Enter ball radius if you are printing tool sags If the Sag Diam is of the ball tip variety, enter the ball tip radius (1/2 the diameter of the ball). This must be very accurate to produce proper sagittal curve values. Enter 0.00 for BAR type gauges. If the sag gauge (see sag diam) used is a BELL type, enter 0.00mm. This value and the Sag Diam value get used as the default sag printed on the work ticket if Tool Sag is “Y.” |
Sag Diam | Enter sag diameter if you are printing tool sags The diameter of the sag gauge used at the lab for measuring curves. Typical gauge sizes are; 50, 45, 30, and 20 millimeters. Only active if Tool Sag is “Y” for printing the sag value on the work ticket. |
Elipt Err | Enter “Y” to print generator cross curve with elliptical error correction For calculation of elliptical error (cross curve reduction) on old-style generators. All 3-axis generators are self-correcting, and this should be “N.” In the event this is needed at the lab, the correction gets based on the standard wheel size used (3.50in.). |
Cyl Comp | Enter starting cyl amount to compensate for material index Cylinder value in which to start compensating for a material index. Additional cylinder compensation (tool index to material index) is applied when the cylinder exceeds the cylinder value entered here. The default value of 0.00 allows for cylinder compensation by the material. |
Slab Cover | Enter “Y” if manufactured slab-offs blocked with mfr cover (blk on cover & add) If “Y,” the system assumes you are blocking manufacturer slabs with a cover over the slab and add area. |
Blk Diam | Enter the inside diameter of the blocking rings used The default block size used in Surfacing. Superseded by the LOH Blocks Table if the entry is 0.00mm. You can place a single block size here. If the lab only uses one size, enter the size. |
Blk Shd T | Enter block shoulder thickness, or 0.00 is prism ring supports the lens Default block height used in Surfacing. Superseded by the LOH Blocks Table if Blk Diam gets entered as 0.00, and this entry is 00mm. Height of block if a non-zero value got entered in the Blk Diam field. |
Psm Rng D | Enter the inside diameter of the prism rings used (0.0 if you don’t use rings) If prism rings used, this value is the inside diameter of the ring. Set to 0.00 if no prism rings used. |
1D Psm Tk | Enter the average thickness of 1 diopter prism ring The range is from 0.125 to 4.00 diopters. The typical value is 3.0mm. |
4D Psm Tk | Enter the average thickness of 4 diopter prism ring |
Rng to Gen | Enter “Y” to add prism ring thickness to generator thickness Used in conjunction with prism ring sets (1D Psm Tk and 4D Psm Tk). Set this to “Y” only if the lab uses the old style rings that are applied by the generator operator. This setting adds the prism ring thickness to the regular center thickness of the job and keeps the generator operator from having to remember to add appropriate thickness. Note: This does NOT apply to the Plano spacer ring. Thickness is uncompensated for the spacer. |
Md for Blk | Enter “Y” to modify generator thickness for block size The amount of modification gets based on the front curve of the lens (sag) deviation between Blk Diam and Gen Diam. The need for this is primarily based on the configuration of the generators in use and is typically applied on old-style generators (based on Coburn standard of 50mm diameter) and using non-standard block sizes that did not conform to that standard. 3-axis generators have a setting to compensate for this. |
Gen Diam | Enter the inside diameter of the blocking rings that the gen. Is c al. for Block diameter for which the generator is configured. This is a fixed value typically set to 50.0mm on older style generators and a variable in the setup tables on 3-axis generators. This value would become active only if Md for Blk field is “Y.” |
Semi-Tech | Enter “Y” to calc. generator thickness for Semi-Tech blocker with a fixed curve For use only with Semi Tech (dual center) blockers. Semi-Tech blockers laid the lens out on optical enter (MRP) then blocked on geometric center. It was a 2-stage blocker, and there were limits to the amount of offset it could handle. Optifacts does not use the limiting factor. Instead, it assumes the lab is using both 58.0 and 50.0mm blocks, and the block base curve is 6.25 diopters. All lenses with a base curve other than 6.25 diopters adjust thickness (to the generator) based on the sag differences. |
Gen Xmit | Enter “Y” to default to transmitting the job to a connected generator |
Gen Setup | Enter the setup number to use on the generator or 0 to use defaults Material list value for Gerber generators. Enter the number from the table, or use zero “0” to use defaults. The number placed here is DIRECTLY linked to interfaced Servers, Generators, and Blockers. This area is important as it determines the material code sent to most processing equipment. |
Gerber Lap | Enter Gerber generator lap material: 1=cut foam, 2= cut aluminum |
St First | Enter “Y” to have Blank Selection try stock lenses first If you would like Blank Selection to attempt the Rx with a finished stock lens when the entered lens is semi-finished, Enter “Y” at this prompt. The Rx must fall within the stock upper and lower sphere limits, as explained below, and you must have Blank Selection enabled for this option to work. You also need to create some finished stock lens entries in your supplier priority list. |
Thk Err | Enter Blank Selection maximum error allowed for lens thickness Allowable tolerance for differences in the stored blank center thickness and the needed blank center thickness. |
Sph Diff | Enter Blank Selection maximum sphere difference between eyes The maximum difference in power where the system is to match (keep) lenses on the same base curve. The following two items influence the decision: % Cyl and % Str Rx. |
% Cyl | Enter Blank Selection percentage of cyl to use for eff. Sphere power The amount of cylinder, expressed as a percentage, to apply to the sphere power when selecting base curves. |
% Str Rx | Enter Blank Selection percentage to stronger Rx to pick base curves by This value determines the amount of influence the strong lens power has on the direction of base curves. |
ST up Sph | Enter Blank Selection upper limit of stock sphere power when picked first Maximum sphere power under which to look for a stock lens during Blank Selection. Setting upper and lower Sph/CYL values (Only Used when Pulling Stock First) The Rx must fall within this range before Optifacts allow Blank Selection even to attempt to find a supplier. Setting these options can saves processing time if the system doesn’t have to search for entries. The amount of processing time saved becomes negligible when you are operating on a computer with modern (circa 1996+) technology due to the speed increases with these computers. |
ST Lo Sph | Enter Blank Selection lower limit of stock sphere power when picked first Lowest sphere power under which to look for a stock lens during Blank Selection. |
ST Up Cyl | Enter Blank Selection upper limit of stock cyl power when picked first Maximum cylinder power under which to look for a stock lens during Blank Selection. |
ST Lo Cyl | Enter Blank Selection lower limit of stock cyl power when picked first Lowest cylinder power under which to look for a stock lens during Blank Selection. |
Prt Nocut | Enter “Y” to have last Blank Selection no cut job print. Set to “Y,” the system prints a work ticket even if no lenses (in the database) work for this job. Work ticket shows lens reviewed before making the “No Cut” decision. By setting this option to a “Y,” Blank Selection prints a work ticket with the last lens attempt, even though the attempt had failed for thickness or diameter checks. If this option is “N,” then Blank Selection won’t create a full work ticket, and prints the appropriate error message on the work ticket When a Blank Selected job fails, interface files for blockers, generators, edgers, and other interfaced equipment don’t get created, even if this option is “Y.”. If a job is manually entered as too small or too thin, interface files get created. Recalling a failed Blank Selection job and forcing the lenses creates the interface files. |
Gen BC Lmt | Enter the largest value generator base curve that can get set. This sets the maximum base curve for the generator, used in conjunction with the Gen BC Set field. Set this field to (99) if all curves are available. For use on older style generators to utilize a single base curve and altered thickness for production throughput. When the value entered here exceeds the base curve entered in the Gen BC Set field becomes the base printed. |
Gen BC Set | Enter base curve to set the generator to if BC > above the limit The base curve used to calculate generator thickness if the Gen BC Lmt gets exceeded. Typically this was set to either 6.00 or 7.00 diopters for speedy job setup on old-style generators. |
L No C Ax | Enter the desired cylinder axis for left lenses with no cylinder Angle to print and send to generators for sphere only left lens. This is dependent on the model of the generator in use for this material. |
R No C Ax | Enter the desired cylinder axis for right lenses with no cylinder Angle to print and send to generators for sphere only, right lens. This is dependent on the model of the generator in use for this material. |
Loh Gen | Enter “Y” to calculate work ticket for a LOH generator or LOH blocker This activates the standard thickness controls used by LOH generators and prints the values on the work ticket as E-Value and I-Value. Must be “Y” to use the LOH BLOCKS program. Setting this to “N” when the lab only uses LOH blockers, causes the system to ignore the LOH Blocks table. |
Bkside Mk | Enter “Y” to calculate work ticket for backside markup Reverses the layout instructions (Surfacing) for applying the ink mark to the rear side of the lens. The normal layout is on the front side of the lenses. |
Rot + Tools | Enter 1 through 5 to rotate sph. And cyl. Curves when curves(s) are plus Set to zero (0) to disable this feature. Other acceptable entries are 1 through 5. 0 = No rotate. 1 = Rotate if either curve is + (does not alter cyl or prism axis) 2 = Rotate if both curves are + (does not alter cyl or prism axis) 3 = Rotate curves and cyl axis if either curve is + (does not alter prism axis) 4 = Rotate curves and cyl axis if both curves are + (does not alter prism axis) 5 = Rotate curves, cyl axis, and prism axis if either curve is + and the absolute value of the sphere is greater than the absolute value of the cross curve. |
Pol 2mm | Enter Y to default to 2mm thick Polarized lenses If set to “Y” assumes all Polaroid lenses use a 2.0mm thick wafer (lamination layer) and set the center thickness accordingly. The default answer should be “N” unless the Polaroid products in the lab are of the older manufacturing process. |
Req Edge | Enter “Y” to always print the required edge on work ticket |
Edge Shape | Enter the default frame shape for edged jobs (1-6) |
Uncut Shape | Enter the default frame shape for uncut jobs (1-6) |
