Introduction

This document provides instructions for using the Drill Points Editor.

Note: The Lab must be using the Optifacts Frame Library. The Lab can purchase the Frames Catalog offering, or trace and add their own through the Optifacts menu options.

Procedure

Step 1 - Trace the frames

Type 3 – Editor Utilities and press enter.

Type 2 – Frame Database Editor and press enter.

Type 7 – Store Trace in Library and press enter.

  • The tray number is the number entered at the tracer for this shape.
  • The next five fields are reference for searches in Order Entry.
    • Frame Name
    • Mfr/Model
    • Frame type or Shape
    • Frame Eyesize
    • Frame Bridge
  • The last field "Other Information" must start with “EDGE” in order for Order Entry to create a usable tracing for the edger

  • Alternatively, there must be an entry enabled in Menu 3-6-6 Custom Configurations, as shown in the following diagram:

How are the points entered?Step 2 - Enter the drill points.

The points or features are entered individually and linked to each appropriate Frame Library Shape.

  1. Type 12 – Frame Parts Inventory and press enter.
  2. Type 1 – Editor Utilities and press enter.
  3. Type 7 – Drill Points Editor and press enter.
    • The Frame Drill Point Editor displays.

  • Press Q to perform a search for the frame.
  • Type in the search data and press Escape to return the results.

  • Press D to access the Frame Point table.

The brackets are now located in the lower portion.

  • Press A to add each feature. Multiple features are usually required.

The cursor moves to the Reference field.

We only support references from the Edge. Not Center or Box.

The Group and Order are usually not significant, but can decrease the movement of the drill from side to side.

Holes are most common and don’t require an X-end or Y-end.

More difficult features are probably explained by the driller’s manual.

  • Enter all applicable data pressing enter after each field.
  • Press Escape to save the data.

Issues/Limitations

  1. The edger/driller must auto-initialize, or accept the receipt of DRILL or  DRILLE labels.
  2. The drill points are linked by a static number, so if a frame comes in 4 eye sizes and they are each saved in the Frame Library, all the features have to be entered 4 times for that frame.
