CrossBows
The device setup for the CrossBows interface should be set to specify CrossBows (see the "Special Device Modifier" below)::
In the RxInfo.ini configuration file for CrossBows, ensure the following options are set:
LOHComms=0 (this disables the interface with RxServer, which is usually ON by default)
BASExt=BAS (this specifies the extension for BAS responses – Rx-Universe requires this to be BAS, the default is LMS)
InputDir – this should be set to the folder where LDS files will be sent from Rx-Universe, and picked up by CrossBows.
OutputDir – this should be set to the folder where LMS and SDF files will be stored. Note that for SDF files, you should use URL naming conventions, to ensure the devices can find the file when sent in LDPATH.
The RxInfo.ini file is located in different folders depending on the version of Windows:
Windows 7 - the RXInfo.ini file is found in C:\Program Data\Crossbows\CrossbowsRX. The C:\Program Data folder is normally hidden, so you may have to select “Show hidden files and folders” in the Folder Options.
Older versions of Windows - one of the following folders:
C:\Program Files\Crossbows\CrossbowsRX
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Crossbows\CrossbowsRX
C:\Program Data\Crossbows\CrossbowsRX
Custom V Design Options
There is an option on the Crossbows software to allow a variable inset, and this only applies to the Custom V design. When this is enabled in the CrossBows calculator (from the Tools|Options menu), then for Custom V, the inset will be calculated based on variables like NWD, lens power, BVD etc. In this case the LMS should send the NWD, IPD, SPH, CYL, AX and BVD. If some values are missing, then defaults will be used or calculated.
The manual inset is to cater for the eye doctor who wants to have a specific inset for his or her patient and in this case the ERNRIN value should be used to directly specify the inset required. From the CrossBows documentation:
ERNRIN | numeric; | For supported designs, may be used to specify the addition inset between limits of 1.5 and 3.5mm. If a non-zero value is specified, this will override the AutoInset feature. |
To request a specific inset in Rx-Universe, use the VCA Overrides on the order (available beginning in 6.38.00):
For the automatic corridor selection the length of the corridor is returned in CORRLEN, the inset is returned in ERNRIN.
Digital Packages
There is an option on the Digital Surface Types screen that will allow you to select the Silver, Gold or Platinum package for CrossBows. Once you select a package, the digital lens styles for that package will be automatically created in the Lens Style database, as well as entries in the Alias database.
