Beginning with version 7.14.00, Rx-Universe supports grouping customers into locations, and then setting default work ticket printers and blocking parameters by location, using a single instance of Rx-Universe.

This is completely optional; laboratories with only one location will likely never need to use this feature.  Labs with multiple locations (whether in different rooms, buildings, or cities) could use this option to direct jobs to different printers, and/or use different blocking methods, and/or different sets of blocking rings, based on what customer placed the order.

Setting Production Locations

The first step is to set up what the different production locations are.  An example might help to illustrate this; take a hypothetical laboratory that has 3 locations:

Location A - does toric using a Gerber blocking system and conventional surfacing equipment, does glass work - main W/T printer is LPT4
Location B - does toric using a traditional generator/polisher using 3 rings - 48, 58 and 63.  Does not do glass - main W/T printer is LPT5
Location C - does toric and digital using cut-to-polish equipment, with 5 blocking rings - 48, 53, 58, 63 and 68.  Does not do glass, main W/T printer is LPT6

All 3 labs do toric work for customers that are located in their geographic region (however the labs want to define that).

The first step is to set up the 3 locations, A, B, and C, with the appropriate printer destination and the appropriate blocking rules and groups set.  We assume, at this point, that the different groups of blocking rings are already configured in Rx-Universe, as follows:

The specific blocking ring values are configured as:

The "Production location" file is located on the "Setup" menu; each of location A, B and C would be set up with an entry:

Since only location C does digital, all digital jobs will be calculated using the blocking ring group for location C.  The printer routing is only for toric work tickets; digital work tickets will be printed by the digital processor on the printer defined in System Settings.

Specifying Production Locations by Customer

To route jobs for specific customers to the appropriate production location, the customer must be set up with a production location.  On the customer screen,
