Fixed generator curve - This setting allows the user to run the generator with a fixed curve or thickness setting. If you want t run as normal, leave tis variable set at zero. If you want to have a fixed base curve setting, set this variable to the base cure desired (between 0.5 and 10.0). For a thickness setting, set this variable over 10.0.

Generator lip diameter - This setting is for the diameter of the wheel lip in inches.

Generator wheel diameter - This setting is for the diameter of the generator wheel in inches.

Bell diameter inside - This setting refers to the inside bell diameter of the 50 mm sagometer.

Bell diameter outside - This setting refers to the outside bell diameter of the 50 mm sagometer.

Sag bar width - This setting refers to the distance between the two external balls on the end of the lapometer bar.

Elliptical error compensation - When checked, Rx-Universe will do elliptical error compensation.

...

Prism compensation - Used in blank selection and surface calculations

...

Cylinder Switch - This setting is used to specify whether jobs are normally considered in minus cylinder form or in plus cylinder form. At present, this is used only when displaying the cylinder values on the base curve chart and in the Rx entry when Rx-Universe determines the ideal base curve to use. This should be set according to the standards used in your lab.

...

US ANSI Thickness - US ANSI standards allow a safety lens to be a minimum of only 2.5 mm when the power along any meridian is 3.00 D or greater. The available settings are:

  • Outside United States - Used for any lab that doesn’t use the US ANSI standards

  • Excludes add power - Doesn’t use the add power when calculating the meridian power

  • Includes add power - Includes the add power when calculating the meridian power

...

Blocking - This setting controls the default type of blocking for each job. This code can be overridden by the blocking parameters of the lens code record or the blocking method set on the Rx order. The available settings are:

  • Optical Setting - Optical center blocking

  • Geometric center - Geometric center blocking

  • Dual center - Dual center blocking

...

Round-Seg Blocking - This setting controls the blocking method used for rounds segs. Available options are “Swing Blocking” and “Up-Down Blocking”

”Swing Blocking” means the lens will be blocked like a flat top - the blank will be rotated (or swung) at the time of blocking to put the segment in the correct location, using a location IN and DOWN on the blocker. The GAX is the same as the cylinder axis on the job.

”Up-Down Blocking” means the lens will be blocked with the segment positioned straight down. The GAX will be adjusted by the amount necessary to put the segment in the correct location on the frame, when it is rotated after generating. The blocker will show the segment located straight down, by the distance of the segment drop for the blank in question.

...

BOC on aspheric - This setting controls the blocking method used on aspheric lenses. The available settings are:

  • Ignore on GC blocking - This will ignore the entered BOC when GC blocking

  • Fore OC blocking - This setting will force OC blocking if a BOC is entered

  • Do not prompt - This setting will not allow the entry of a BOC on aspheric lenses
