Rx-Universe can be setup to communicate with the LS2208 RS-232 barcode scanners. The device parameters screen is setup as follows:
Set the Device Manufacture to "Symbol" or "Motorola", then set the device type to "LS2". The baud rate is set to 9600, Databits to 8, Stopbits to 1, with Parity set to None, and no flow control. When setting up the LS2208, make sure that it is programmed to send a "CR" carriage return after the scan.
The LS2208 interface is designed to accept both tray number and order number scans; any scan that is greater than 5 digits will be interpreted automatically as an order number.
If the device session is set up with a "Job Track ID" that is set as a "Global" station, any scans in the "99nnn" range will be interpreted as either a new station identifier or an operator identifier, depending on the setup of the "nnn" station associated with the "99nnn" scan:
Device Interface "45" will look something like this:
I'm going to scan the barcode of station "031" ("99031"); "INTO A/R ROOM":
It shows you the station that was scanned "99031", the time it was scanned and that the scan was "GOOD". The "GOOD" only indicates that the Device Interface was able to read the barcode, it doesn't validate the Job Station number. In other words, if everything is setup correctly, if you scan the barcode "99050" and there are no Job Station of "050" in Rx-Universe, it will still say "GOOD".
Lets continue our example; after you scan the Job Station barcode, you start scanning the Tray Number barcode or the Order Number barcode of the jobs that are at this station. I scanned the Tray Number:
I then viewed the Job History of that job:
I will scan Job Station "032" (barcode "99032") for "OUT OF A/R ROOM", scan the tray number again and check the Job History:
