Backup Recommendations

All the data in a typical installation is centrally located on the server running RX-Universe (The PC that has the RX-U USB Dongles connected). In the examples bellow we will assume the the name of the server is "server" and the installation is install

We recommend backing up the default installation folder. In this example we use: "C:\RxUniverse" (please note that if you selected to install RX-Universe in a different directory the path would be different)

 

Backup and recovery procedures

OMICS Software Inc. recommends that you We recommend that all of the RX-Universe clients have proper backup and recovery procedures in place for your OMICS their RX-Universe system and OMICS data files as part of a disaster recovery plan (DRP).  You are responsible   The Client is responsible for providing adequate backups to ensure the recovery of your OMICS their RX-Universe system and OMICS RX-Universe data files in the event of a system failure, data lost and/or data corruption. These backup provisions should allow your business to be resumed in a timely manner.

 

If you have experienced a failure, OMICS Support will be able to assist you in the systematic order described below;

 

1-     OMICS support will advise you of the specific files (which files and what date) that you will need to recover from your backup system.

2-     Once the recovery process is completed, You (or your IT Provider) will need to notify OMICS Support that all the proper files have been recovered successfully.

3-     After the confirmation of successful data recovery, OMICS Support will then assist you in the rebuilding process of the OMICS Software & OMICS Data files.

The RX-Universe client needs to recognizes the importance of these processes and would like to we highly recommend that you they consult with your their current IT provider to help you them organize and plan a proper disaster recovery plan (DRP) based on the below examples of a suggested preferred best practices: 

  1. A daily backup procedure
  2. An off-site backup procedure
  3. A minimum of 14 days backup retention.
  4. A daily off-site rotation
  5. A routine monitoring and testing of backup systems

Backing up the entire content of this "C:\RxUniverse" folder will make the restoration simplify the restoration process.
